Amidst their Premier League title chase, Arsenal have been dealt a fresh injury blow as they could be without as many as seven first-team players for their crucial Champions League clash against Monaco.
Currently sitting seventh in the group stage standings, Arsenal are in the hunt for a place in the Champions League knockout rounds. The Gunners have won three of their matches, including an emphatic 5-1 victory over Sporting Lisbon in their previous outing.

Standing in their way at 02:00 GMT on Wednesday are Monaco, who occupy eighth position and trail Arsenal only on goal difference, setting up an intriguing battle between two evenly matched sides.
However, the task has been made all the more difficult for Mikel Arteta’s team with just over 24 hours to go before the match in north London. Football.london’s Kaya Kaynak has revealed that midfielder Thomas Partey was absent from training on Monday.
Of greater concern, though, is the quartet of defenders Gabriel Magalhaes, Riccardo Calafiori, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Jurrien Timber, who were also not involved in the main session ahead of the match.
Timber and Partey will be major worries for Arsenal, having both started in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Fulham, while Gabriel, Calafiori, and Zinchenko were already sidelined.
The aforementioned absences contributed to a disjointed defensive display against Fulham as the Gunners dropped two points, potentially proving costly in their bid for Premier League glory come the end of the season.
Asked over the weekend whether he was expecting any of his defenders to return for the Monaco encounter, Arteta said: “I hope so, but the reality is the doctors and physios have to assess where they are. We have a lot of players out, especially in defence. The positive thing is that whatever we put out there, they respond. They respond with the attitude and the performance.”
With a potential place in the Champions League knockout stages on the line, Arsenal will be desperate to have as many of their key players available as possible. However, the growing injury list is a major concern for Arteta and could force him to field a makeshift team against Monaco.
